Summit is importing more bandwidth into the country
Summit Communications is importing more bandwidth into the country. Where India’s SIFY Technologies is joining them as an upstream operator. It is starting with 50 Gbps capacity initially.
This bandwidth will be connected to the Terrestrial Cable Landing Station (TCLS) at Benapole. Summit has previously tied up with India’s Reliance Jio Infocomm, Bharti Airtel, and Tata Communications.
Apart from these ITC operators in the country, Fiber at Home, Novocom, One Asia Alliance Communications, BDLink Communications, Mango Teleservices, and Bangladesh Telecommunications or BTCL import bandwidth.
ITC operators have tied up with Reliance Jio, Cify Technologies, Lightstrom Telecom Tata Communications, and Bharti Airtel as per their convenience.
The main bandwidth of the country is coming through C-MI-4, and C-MI-5 through Bangladesh submarine cable operator BSCCL. Bangladesh is also connecting the third submarine cable to C-MI-6. On the other hand, ITC operators are used as alternative bandwidth connections in the country in addition to supplying the demand.
Now the bandwidth usage in the country is more than 5 thousand 100 Gbps. Out of this 2 thousand 300 Gbps comes through BSCCL. Which is about 45 percent of the total demand. On the other hand, 2,800 Gbps comes from ITC operators, which is about 55 percent of the total demand.
BTRC says, if 5G is launched in the future, bandwidth demand will increase a lot. It will be important to increase the bandwidth capacity of the ITC operators there.
