18 crore people use mobile SIM, 13 crore internet users

The number of mobile phone users and internet users in the country is more than 18 crore and 13 crore respectively.

While presenting the proposed national budget for the financial year 2023-24 in Parliament on Thursday, Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said, ‘At present, the number of mobile SIM users and the number of internet users are more than 18 crore and 13 crores respectively.’

He said that the government is working to build Digital Bangladesh based on these four main pillars – connectivity, skilled human resources, e-government, and expansion of the ICT industry.

The finance minister said, ‘Our progress and achievements in these four areas are unprecedented. As a result of our government’s initiative, internet bandwidth per Mbps is now available at less than 300 rupees instead of 78 thousand rupees.’
